Coverings Sunshine Coast: The Exclusive Stockist of Alhambra

Coverings is delighted to announce that we are now the exclusive stockists of Alhambra fabrics here on the Sunshine Coast. This is an exceptional luxury product, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to showcase this magnificent range!

Sourcing the best products from across Australia and the world has become the personal mission of Ali, Coverings Sunshine Coast’s expert on everything design forward. But her greatest coup to date has been securing the exclusive stockist rights to the Alhambra fabrics range. Running her hand over the sought-after samples, her passion for this quality fabric is clear: ‘The fabrics are absolutely beautiful, and each range has an incredible story behind it. I’m in love!’

The Exclusive Stockist of Alhambra

Alhambra: More Than Just a Fabric.

On the design scene for four and a half decades, this Spanish based company has become synonymous with understated style and bespoke luxury. At Alhambra, fabrics are so much more than one aspect of soft furnishings: ‘Mixing textiles, textures and colours we create a universe of textiles that draw your soul, and fill your life with well-being. Inspiration and originality guide products for dressing each space in your life.’

Creating Meaning in Your Space with Alhambra

Indeed, the Alhambra range of fabrics is life changing. Each collection has its own story and inspiration, while the fabric itself is designed to accommodate different machinations within the home. Ali explains: ‘Including the story of how each design came about, for example in the Sahel Collection, and what the patterns represent is such an inspiration in itself. It means you haven’t just picked a fabric for your roman blinds or sheers based solely on what looked good: the story of the fabric provides a deeper meaning, and creates a more beautiful connection between you and your space.’

Bespoke Designs: Alhambra’s Sahel Collection

Bespoke Designs: Alhambra’s Sahel Collection

The Alhambra design team have looked from their Mediterranean homeland, across the seas for inspiration in their Sahel collection. ‘Sahel, a belt of land crossing the African continent from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, was where the trade routes connecting the west coast of Africa and the Mediterranean began, giving rise to thriving cities like Timbuktu, Gao or Djenne.’

Drawing heavily on the Bogolan tribe, the Sahel collection features a swathe of differing motifs with a modern edge. The Sajeni print description gives a motivational life lesson: ‘Bambara women have used their Bogolan fabrics to pass down advice and messages to their daughters from generation to generation. In its symbology, Sajeni means ‘straight path’, and it’s determined by horizontal lines. It’s these vertical and horizontal stripes, slightly snaked, that give shape to our print.’

The fabric is 100% cotton with a gorgeous feel: ‘a textured jacquard digitally printed with reactive dyes and using new sophisticated printing systems that provide high-quality motifs and colours, as well as significant savings in chemicals and energy.’  Applications range from curtains to gorgeous roman blinds.

Alhambra’s Luxurious Sheers

Alhambra’s Luxurious Sheers: More Than a Coastal Mood

Diversity is a hallmark of the Alhambra range, with their collection of sheers or voiles taking on a much more elemental aspect. Sheers have become a sought after feature of the Coastal Chic look here on the Coast for their dreamy, luxurious style and ability to provide privacy without blocking light. Alhambra’s Aire collection of sheers however, takes this simple covering to a whole new level.

Named in deference to the element of air, Aire has been inspired by the wind felt on our skin, ‘winds that bring changes, that speak to us of freedom, that clean, that bring rain, seeds or sand.’ In this, Alhambra provides a lot more thoughtfulness and meaning to something we simply hang over our windows.

The nine individual fabrics of the collection are given their own description, each leaving the Coverings Sunshine Coast team swooning and sighing for their own piece of restrained European glamour.

Here, the Bora fabric is described as: ‘A cold, dry wind formed by the currents of the Mediterranean blows in gusts and becomes present in winter, hitting the coasts of the Adriatic. The Bora voile, with its tumultuous appearance, enchants us with the light filtered by its linen and wool threads, intentionally disordered in Jacquard.’

Alhambra also understands the need for fabrics that are fresh and luxurious. The Nicos collection provides just that in 25 shades of light, ‘soft and sheer’ linen.  In contrast, the more rustic Mondo collection in 15 shades, is thicker. ‘It’s high density – 630 g – provides a beautiful and strong drape in contrast with its soft feel.’ Both the Nicos and Mondo are 100% linen, in a plain weave using a plain loom.
