Noosa Springs Fitness Centre
It’s fair to say some of the team were more ‘pumped up’ than others to get into the ‘weighty’ task of ‘lifting’ the Noosa Springs Fitness Centre interior with the usual Coverings Sunshine Coast magic. (Did you see what we did there? Very punny!) This commercial install shows just how ‘flexible’ the Covering team is! (We’ll stop now.)
As a commercial gym servicing the needs of Noosa’s elite, the Noosa Springs Fitness Centre required a spruce up in the area that works the hardest: flooring.
Gym floors have to be somewhat ‘springy’, non-porous and most of all, capable of holding up to the enormity of heavy machines, equipment and thousands of kilograms of adjustable weights. Importantly, having a completely flat surface was imperative to ensure the integrity and safety of all weight and cardio machines: nothing’s going to put you off your snatch and lift game or cross training focus more than a machine or equipment that has a little wobble. As one of Noosa’s high end gyms, achieving a sophisticated look that complemented the country club feel of Noosa Springs was also imperative.
The team began by removing the existing flooring and prepping with a diamond grind of the concrete slab underneath to ensure a completely level playing field (Pun #5… it’s just too easy!) Satisfied with the base layer, the team then set about installing two different types of flooring to meet the sophistication and heavy wear briefs.
Directly beneath the gym machines and equipment, the Coverings Sunshine Coast team laid Jazz 7mm rubber flooring in Cadenza; a charcoal colour with a lovely light fleck of azure blue throughout. This extra heavy duty flooring provides great comfort underfoot, and has remarkable non-slip properties. It’s easy to maintain with high surface longevity and anti-fatigue wear (sorry, flooring only; it won’t help you in the 19th minute of your HIIT session) with the added bonus of some serious sustainability clout. Low environmental consequences are a feature of Jazz Flooring, particularly on raw material extraction and depletion. It’s also an Australian made product which speaks straight to the Coverings’ team sense of pride: this is a fantastic product supporting local businesses to be the best they can be. The Noosa Springs’ fitness elite were assured of excellent flooring during their workouts; maintaining a relaxed yet stylish feel in consistency with the rest of this luxurious complex was the next challenge.
Using some of Australia’s best commercial carpet tiles from Signature Flooring’s Pixel range,
Will and the team were able to provide a creative solution to those areas of Noosa Spring’s Fitness Centre not effected by heavy machines and equipment. From the entranceway right through to the weight lifting area, Signature’s Pixel range in a textured pattern of dyed nylon fibre in dark ocean blues is a stunning addition to the otherwise white, light and bright aesthetic of the gym. Not only does it look fantastic, these commercial carpet tiles also have outstanding resistance to soiling, staining, crushing and wear.
In a space where moving blunt objects in a sweat is ideal, the Coverings team have been able to supply a little uncomplicated finesse to the Noosa Springs Fitness Centre, with seamless joinery between the utilitarian rubber flooring and more refined carpet tiles.
