Plantation shutters have become a popular choice for window coverings over the last few years. Not only are they great for privacy and light control but they are an easy to maintain option also. What you might not know is there are a variety of materials available to you... Hardwood Shutters

Hardwood shutters are made from genuine wood in either basswood or poplar and come in a range of finishes and tones or you can even create your own custom colour to match your existing decor. They are durable with a long lasting lustre and require minimal maintenance. They are a high end option, as they are handcrafted to add custom finishing techniques such as glazed, distressed or rustic with knots.

PVC Shutters

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is a synthetic plastic polymer made from petroleum. They are a lightweight and budget friendly option that are scratch resistant and waterproof. However they are not a great option for very large windows unless you have dividing rails to provide additional structure (as pictured). They also come in a range of colours.

Hybrid Shutters

Hybrid shutters are a great mid-range option. They are made from a mix of manufactured wood and PVC which gives you the strength and structural integrity of wood but also the scratch and stain proof durability of PVC, best of both worlds. They also come in a range of colours and styles.
